Five Polish girls (Magda Biegańska, Gabriela Fabian, Aleksandra Listwan, Anna Sienicka and Magda Skiba) go to Abu Dhabi, the city of dreams, to earn big money as escort ladies. They find themselves under the wings of Scheherezada (Ewa Galusińska), who introduces them to the world of oil tinsel. They meet not only local men (Bartosz Bulanda, Mateusz Krzyk, Łukasz Kucharzewski, Paweł Palcat, Maciej Rabski, Jakub Stefaniak), but also a Polish politician in hiding (Katarzyna Dworak) and her son a priest (Arkadiusz Jaskot). In the reception of the luxurious Oasis Hotel (in the role of receptionist Mariusz Sikorski), where the paths of all the protagonists intersect, a confused Polish tourist (Paweł Wolak) and his daughter (Zofia Bąk) are looking for a missing spouse... The group of peculiar characters also includes perverted twins (Zuza Motorniuk and Małgorzata) Urbańska) and former adult film star (Anita Poddębniak). As time passes, from behind the golden veil, it begins to emerge
About the event
The Girls of Abu Dhabi is a naughty tale for adults, a fairy tale of dreams that can take us to the very middle of a dark desert. Comedy mixed with horror, farce and musical. It is a theater that mixes conventions, takes risks, precipitates from comfort and does not allow itself to be classified.
Abu Dhabi is not a reportage “real place”, but a fantasy: a city made of folders, a forgery and a myth about the land of easy happiness - a “paradise” in which the mechanisms of enslavement and emotional emptiness are increasingly evident over time. Creators consciously play with stereotypes (and those who use them), pushing them to the point of absurdity, to trigger laughter, and then ask what we are actually trying to hide under it.
With the production of a text by Alfred Kawula, Łukasz Czuj returns to the stage of the Modrzejewska Theatre once again as a director — after the Camp Comedy (2012), Dance Lesson at the Wedding and Funeral Home of Mr. Bamba (2017) and Vodewil Liegnitz (2023). The music for the performance was written by Marcin Partyka, Agata Stanula (and her assistant Marta Kopańska) is responsible for the scenography and costumes, and the choreography was prepared by Jarosław Staniek.
The whole permanent acting ensemble of the Legnica Theater performs in the performance.
