About the event

The organizers of the 7th Cinematika Film Festival invite you to the next installment of the film music concert series, i.e. a journey through compositions from films of the 80s, 90s and 2000s to modern times. Concerts from this series have already become a tradition of the Gdańsk Film Festival. Every year a premiere repertoire is prepared for the festival.

This year's concert is a continuation of the thematic band “Echo Lat...”, exploring the sounds of past decades in cinema and their influence on the style and sound of film music of contemporary films and series. This year the concert program will be devoted to music from films from the turn of the 80s to the contemporary and will again be a combination of symphonic and electronic music with an admixture of modern synthpop.

On the stage of the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre there will be an orchestra of several people under the direction of Beata Śnieg, combining symphonic and electronic sounds in the company of William Malcolm, Krystyna Gedzik, a choir of twelve and other guests.

The concert program will feature music from films by iconic directors who have redefined the language of cinema — Christopher Nolan, Denis Villeneuve, Guy Ritchie, Luc Besson, David Lynch and Sophi Coppoli. Their films are not only visual masterpieces, but also examples of the extraordinary synergy of image and sound.

The artists will take viewers on a cinematic journey full of emotion, through the futuristic worlds of the films “Dune”, “Hail Mary” and “The Fifth Element”, the ancient worlds full of magic from “The Odyssey”, corresponding to the aesthetics of cinema and music of the 80s “Drive” and “The Great Marty”, and iconic works of the past decades such as “Deception”,” Heavenly Beach” and “Blue Velvet”.

The program will not lack the music of composers whose works have been permanently inscribed in the history of cinema — Hans Zimmer, Ludwig Göransson and Eric Serra.

The concert will be a musical story about how sound can create the world, recall memories and revive frames that remain forever in our memory. More information about the entire festival: www.cinematika.pl
