Rita's education

Rita Willy Russell's Education is a story about people who share almost everything. He is a university professor, an excellent scholar, but an alcoholic. She is a seeker of knowledge, an ambitious hairdresser who enrolls in the Free Universe in order to give meaning to her life through studies of literature and enter the land of values that culture and people who belong to this land closed to her. The first association is G.B. Shaw's Pygmalion, but Russell twists a slightly different story around this association — a hard-drinking Frank turns out to be an excellent teacher, full of passion and understanding for his student. Rita makes steady progress, but she also undergoes a kind of evolution, merging more and more into her recently alien environment. Does he not lose his true self? At first, a conflict arises between Frank the master and Rita the schoolgirl, but it turns out that in total they have a lot to give each other, that their relationship enriches both parties... A friendship is born, maybe even something from a friendship hotter? Directed by Wojciech Dąbrowski, Education... shows all the subtleties of the relationship between two very different - and how similar! - people...
