About the concert
Warsaw is the capital of Poland every day, and every five years the capital of world piano music. For almost a hundred years, since the first edition of the Competition in 1927, the eyes of the musical world have been turned to the building at 5 Jasna Street. It is in the building of the National Philharmonic that atmospheric nocturnes and characteristic mazurkas, elaborate sonatas and ballads, illustrious etudes and artistic variations, as well as two concerts accompanied by an orchestra, ensure that ““The Piano Poet” is still alive.

“We are not just looking for a pianist, but a true artist who feels Chopin, loves Chopin, and also has a creative artistic personality. We are looking for such pianists” — Prof. Piotr Paleczny (President of the Competition Jury, 2025)

This year's 19th edition of the Competition turned out to be a record one — out of 642 pianists delighted with Chopin's “feeling”, the international Jury selected 85 pianists from 20 countries, including 13 representatives of Poland. Although participation in this event is a huge distinction, and winning one of the awards opens the door to a world career, we are still waiting for another Pole who will follow in the footsteps of: Halina Czerny-Stefańska (1949), Adam Harasiewicz (1955), Krystian Zimerman (1975) and Rafał Blechacz (2005) — Polish winners of this prestigious Competition.

Today we already know that we will still have to wait for the next triumph of our compatriot. The 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in 2025 ended with the victory of the American pianist Eric Lu. Among the Polish participants, Piotr Alexewicz was ranked the highest, winning the 5th prize.

Continuing our cooperation with the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, this year again we invite you to meet with the participants of the elimination and the main stage of last year's edition during the recital of the Chopin Effect. This is a unique opportunity to see how young artists happily sit at the piano and captivate the audience with their technique and interpretations of Chopin's works.
