According to many critics and film critics, this is the most important horror in the history of cinema, as well as the picture that permanently changed the rules of the genre. This seminal work by William Friedkin, awarded two Oscars, remains an inspiration and a benchmark for generations of filmmakers to this day.
The prelude to this story is the strange, disturbing behavior of a little girl, arousing increasing fear in her mother. The woman calls more doctors and specialists. All of them claim that the child is physically healthy, but his condition is deteriorating day by day. In the end, the mother decides to help the priest, the eponymous exorcist. From this moment begins the struggle for the soul and body of the child, being at the same time a symbolic clash of the forces of good and evil.
Great acting creations are created in “The Exorcist” by Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow and teenage Linda Blair, whose role (awarded, among others, with a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination) has become a permanent part of the history of world cinema.
