About the event

The funniest film fest of the year, where Denmark's most talented filmmakers and greatest talents compete for sixteen awards for their short films.

Experience the new talents of Danish film being celebrated when the Ekko Shortlist Awards run for the 13th time.

‍

Last year, the director behind The Second Victim, Zinnini Elkington, noted that it was a very special night when the growth layer of Danish film demonstrated its diversity. We hope that November 19 will be even more special!

‍

In 2025, Helin Erdem stood for a superior show, and the year before, it was Nina Rask who spectacled. Soon it will be revealed who will take the baton this year and leave their mark on the proud tradition.

‍

At 5.30pm, the doors open with a red carpet and welcome noise before the show kicks off from 7pm. Once the last award is handed out, the party at Bremen with DJ will continue until 2am. There will also be night food, which for many years has been provided by Danish film's leading butcher.

‍

Who decides the winners?
The nominees for twelve of the awards are found by a knowledgeable jury, which is published on the EKKO website a few weeks before the celebration day. After that, you can vote for the nominees and the winners are found with a 50/50 weighting of the votes of the audience and jury.

‍

The audience alone decides which films are nominated for the Audience Award and the Shortlist Prize. The twenty films that have achieved the highest placements on the Ekko Shortlist's Top 10 during the year are automatically nominated. The rankings are calculated based on a combination of the number of views and the audience's star ratings.

‍

Once the nominees are found, the audience decides who gets the Audience Award, while the winner of the Shortlist Prize — and 25,000 kronor — is chosen by the jury.

‍

Diversity Price
The Producer Prize, which was awarded for the first time last year to Christian Lønhart, is handled by a special jury, as is the popular Diversity Prize.

‍

It was a big moment when Rand Jamal and Mohammed “Muddi” Osman were awarded the statuette last year for their eye-opening participation in the program First to the End of the World.

‍

You can have an impact on the next price. Send a suggestion as to which person, workplace, producer, broadcaster or institution has done the most for diversity in the film and television industry in the past year to ekko@ekkofilm.dk with a brief explanation.

‍

Doors open: 17:30
