“Kierunek Wschód” is a theatrical review that presents the culture of the border, focusing on theatrical performances from across the eastern border of Poland and stage adaptations of dramatic classics and contemporary works from the territory of Eastern and Central Europe.
Georgian Regional Theatres Network from Georgia will present the play “Emigrants” by Sławomir Mrozhek. This is an intellectual drama about two emigrants living in a confined space in a foreign country. One left his homeland for political reasons, the other for economic reasons. Despite different worldviews, they are doomed to each other and remain in constant psychological conflict. The art deals with the themes of freedom, dignity, identity and human loneliness. The dialogue of the protagonists shows the true price of emigration — not only social, but also internal and existential. “Emigrants” is a poignant and ironic text that prompts reflection on what freedom is and what we lose in the search for a better life.
Director: Ioseb Bakuradze
Cast: Gena Shonia, Gia Surmawa
At the foreign performance, subtitles in Polish will be displayed.
After the performance, there will be a discussion panel, during which viewers will have the opportunity to ask questions to the creators and get acquainted with the process accompanying the creation of the show.
