We invite you to the first stage reading of the cycle “Does it work or does it not work?” scheduled for the 2026/2027 season
We start with Sławomir Mrozek's “Emigrants”. One of the most famous Polish dramas of the 20th century is being read today — in reality, in which the experience of migration, uprooting, living between languages, countries and social worlds takes on new meanings.
Does Mrozek's text still “work”? Does it also talk about modern migrants, their tensions, fears and dreams? How does a classic drama read from today's perspective sound?
Directed by: Siarhei Artsiomenka — 4th year directing student at the Academy of Theatre Arts in Krakow
Read: Paweł Pabisiak, Igor Tajchman
Cycle “Does it work or does it not work?” we give to young directors who, together with the actors of Horzyca, check the potential and relevance of Polish classics. We ask whether the old texts still manage to conduct a dialogue with the contemporary viewer — to move, entertain, disturb and trigger new associations.
