Emil and the Detectives

The Kästner classic, a fabulous Berlin story and the most successful crime story for children of all time have been on our program with tremendous success since January 2017. The content is primarily about the strength of children and their capacity for solidarity: Together, you can move mountains! The musical concept as a modern singspiel has so far impressed critics and audiences alike. Sinem Altan, who was awarded the European Composer Prize in 2015, has taken over the musical direction.

For the first time, Emil Tischbein is allowed to travel alone to Berlin. His clever cousin Pony Hütchen and his grandmother await him in vain at Friedrichstraße train station. Because Emil has already embarked on an exciting chase: across the big city, always after the creep ground ice that stole his money from him on the train. Fortunately, he soon receives support from Gustav with the horn and his gang.

The exciting story becomes a musical theatre festival: Ten participants perform scenic songs, choral speaking and body percussion and play the instruments cello, accordion, guitar and charango (Bolivian stringed instrument) as well as the percussion instruments Urdu and Djembe live.
