Emma Smith [21:30]

He has performed at venues ranging from the Royal Albert Hall to the world's leading jazz clubs, as well as collaborations with artists such as Michael Bublé, Quincy Jones Orchestra, Jeff Goldblum, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as jazz legends Jeremy Pelt and Wayne Escoffery. Over the years, she has built a reputation for herself as an artist full of power and expression, gaining a loyal and rapidly growing audience around the world.

Over the past year, her international presence has skyrocketed with an intense tour with the trio. Growing up in a family of jazzmen, Emma had almost no choice - she had to fall in love with this joyful, swinging music. She was most influenced by her grandfather, a trombonist from London's East End, who played with Sammy Davis Jr., Oscar Peterson, Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra. As Emma says, Grandpa never missed a practice day and taught her that “you're only as good as your last performance.” She took over from him an ethos of work, a delight in music, a deep appreciation for the life it gives her, and boundless ambition.

Her latest album, Bitter Orange, released by American label La Reserve — where she is the first British artist in the line-up — has received widespread critical acclaim and millions of reproductions, combining contemporary emotional sincerity with a sound rooted in the past.

We invite you to the next concerts of the artist in Jassmine!
