ERYKAH BADU IS BACK IN POLAND. UNIQUE CONCERT “IMEHO” IN KATOWICE

Erykah Badu, one of the most influential and original artists of contemporary music, returns to Poland. On October 25, 2026, she will perform at the International Congress Center in Katowice, presenting her latest stage project “IMEHO — An Intimate Experience with Erykah Badu”.

After last year's concerts in Gdynia, during which the artist celebrated the 25th anniversary of the cult album “Mama's Gun”, Erykah Badu returns with a completely different experience. “IMEHO” is an improvisational form in which every concert is created live and no evening can be repeated.

However, it will not be a solo concert or a duet performance. In Katowice, Erykah Badu will perform in a four-person line-up, together with three musicians responsible for keyboards, bass and extensive percussion instrumentation. This formula allows to preserve the intimate and improvised character of the project, while giving it a fuller, dynamic sound prepared for the large space of the MCC.

The permanent focus of the project is RC Williams, pianist and longtime collaborator of the artist, with whom she is united by a unique musical agreement. Badu conducts the concert intuitively, responding to the musicians, the atmosphere and the energy of the audience. The setlist is only a starting point, and the final shape of each performance is created in a given place and moment, with the active participation of the audience.

The world premiere of “IMEHO” took place in the summer of 2026 in Tokyo. Japanese concerts combined music, performance, improvisation, spirituality and a sense of humor characteristic of Badu. The project does not have a closed scenario. Each performance is a separate experience that cannot be repeated in another place or time.

During the Katowice concert we will hear songs from the entire catalogue of Erykah Badu, including compositions from the albums “Baduizm”, “Mama's Gun” and “New Amerykah”, as well as new material from the album being prepared. Classical songs will receive new, open arrangements, leaving room for the artist and musicians to improvise and spontaneous changes of direction.

Erykah Badu has remained one of the most important figures of neo-soul since the release of the groundbreaking “Baduism” in 1997. She is the winner of five Grammy Awards and the author of songs such as “On & On”, “Tyrone”, “Bag Lady”, “Didn't Cha Know”, “Window Seat” and “Love of My Life”. Her work for almost three decades combines soul, jazz, hip-hop, electronics, poetry and performance art.

The concert in Katowice will be the only Polish version of the European tour “IMEHO” and the first performance of Erykah Badu in this city.
