In 1986, Swedish rock band EUROPE released their groundbreaking third album, The Final Countdown, which catapulted the group to international stardom status, with the title single hitting #1 on the charts in 25 countries around the world. The multi-platinum album topped the charts around the globe, included four Top 40 singles and lasted for more than 60 weeks on the US Billboard chart.
Thanks to the song's continued popularity in the digital age, in 2022 the band received an award from YouTube as the first Swedish band to get one billion views of a single song, and of course the number is still growing; it is now close to 1.4 billion plays.
The Final Countdown 40th Anniversary Tour will cover 12 countries, including the UK, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway, for a total of 19 concerts. The show will consist of an extensive selection of the most important songs from the band's entire career, culminating in the performance of the album The Final Countdown in its entirety.
Since the release of The Final Countdown, the group has toured around the world and has released eight more albums, including the Classic Rock Award, the Grammy Award and many other accolades.
The band belongs to an elite group of artists who maintain a full classical line-up to this day, and the year 2026 will bring the premiere of their 12th studio album. The album — as yet untitled — was recorded at RMV Studios in Stockholm in October 2025 with acclaimed producer Tom Dalgety (Ghost, The Pixies, Royal Blood, Opeth).
Joey Tempest: It's been 40 years in the blink of an eye and we're going to perform TFC in its entirety for only the second time in our careers, along with other hits and our favorite tracks from the upcoming album. It's going to be amazing, we're working to make the production and show match this unique opportunity.
