It is probably no exaggeration to say that post-apocalyptic cinema is mainly associated with American cinema, and to a lesser extent with individual titles from other corners of the globe, such as Stalker, Snowpiercer: Ark of the Future or Mad Max. For many people, it is quite surprising to learn that Europe has a long tradition of post-apo film, dating back to the second decade of the 20th century. As part of the lecture, we will look at selected European post-apocalyptic films — from the 1930s to the present. Among them will be productions from the UK, France, Italy, Greece and Czechoslovakia.
The event is part of Horror Day 2026 — 12th Lower Silesian Horror Festival. The theme of this year's festival is POSTAPOCALYPSE. The full program of the event is available here HORROR DAY PROGRAM 2026.
