Everybody Digs Bill Evans

June 1961, New York City. Legendary jazz pianist Bill Evans has found his musical voice and created the perfect trio, including bassist Scott LaFaro, his musical soulmate. An engagement at the Village Vanguard culminates in the live recording of two of the greatest jazz albums of all time — recorded in one and the same day. A few days later, LaFaro tragically perishes in a car accident. Paralyzed with grief, Evans quits playing for the first time since his childhood.

Cutting between Bill Evans's present and future, his sobriety and intoxication, as well as his relationship with his family and his on/off girlfriend, who share his taste for music and hard drugs, EVERYBODY DIGS BILL EVANS portrays the inner life and personal price of a tormented musical genius as he struggles to learn that a break is sometimes part of music.

Starring as the tormented musician, Norwegian star actor Anders Danielsen Lie is seen.
