Examining the body — a VR experience with PhD Efsevia DaskalakiThe event takes place in English.
Through VR, visitors will get a hands-on insight into what it means to work as a coroner. The VR experience is designed to illustrate and convey the processes involved in performing an autopsy, thus helping the audience to better understand the work and methods of forensics. Although the VR experience itself does not perform or facilitate identification, it provides a valuable framework
to understand how coroners examine the body -- a key part of the identification process.
The event is linked to the exhibition SOLID. Read more about the exhibition here
The VR experience was created by Efsevia Daskalaki, a graduate of the MSc programme in Forensic Medicine, Anthropology and Imaging, who is visiting Copenhagen and is part of the exhibition from 5—7 October. As part of her PhD project together with Associate Professor Elena Kranioti and her team at the University of Crete, and in collaboration with the HCI-Lab at the Institute of Computer Sciences, Foundation of Research and
Technology — Hellas (Heraklion, Crete, Greece), Daskalaki has developed a VR experience and a training tool focused on virtual autopsy of the head and thorax.
The exhibition and research projects are funded by the European Research Council (ERC)
