India is changing rapidly. Over recent decades, shifts in politics and society have reshaped ideas of citizenship, identity, belonging and dissent, with minoritised communities increasingly pushed to the margins.
Bringing together archival and contemporary experimental shorts from across India, this programme looks at these changes from close to the ground. Rather than turning to the spectacle of crisis that dominates news and social media, the films look for other ways of seeing and listening: through language, touch, memory, play, landscape and everyday encounters.
These are films that linger on what can be overlooked or erased. Moving between intimate and political spaces, they ask how cinema can hold on to lived experiences that resist easy explanation, and what might become visible when we look beyond the headlines.
