Director Robert Talarczyk and Remigiusz Grzela combined into one story the fates of heroes from two masterpieces by Icchok Baszewis Singer (“Manor” and “Legacy”). In this way, an addictive family saga was created, which we watch against the background of landmark historical events. The old world is slowly leaving, the established order is being demolished: tradition ceases to be the guarantor that unites the family. We look at internal conflicts through the lens of the Jewish family community, where the difficult past confronts the challenges of the future. It's a show that raises questions about who and why are we? What happens in the souls of people who have lost their sense of identity? What is the difference between how we should and how we can react?

The Complicated History of the Jewish Family
“The adaptation of Grzela and Talarczyk transforms Singer's multithreaded prose into a stage structure in which the pace of the narrative is subordinated to the rhythm of images, gestures and light. Katarzyna Łuszczyk's lighting emphasizes the directions of movement, separates segments of space and gives the scenes an almost painterly character. The repetition of gestures and the rhythmic appearance of the protagonists create the effect of a continuum, in which each episode functions simultaneously as an individual event and a fragment of a collective history. The viewer thus experiences both narrative coherence and a sense of the nation's existence in time — which corresponds to Singer's literary vision, but translated into the language of the stage.
