Matilda’s parents are only interested in themselves, so from a young age she heads off to the library to read, discovering new worlds between the pages. But when Matilda starts school, it becomes clear that her abilities aren’t limited to reading: she discovers magical powers that she can use to take on the bullies of the world – including terrifying headteacher Miss Trunchbull. A real treat on the big screen for its 30th anniversary, this delightful film features fantastic performances, including a gleefully horrible turn from Pam Ferris as The Trunchbull.
And why not come along and get creative in the café with a family-led bookmark activity? Before the film from 10.30am and after the screening, we’ll provide a selection of crafting materials – and lots of our own examples – to make your own film-themed bookmark to take away with you.
