Father Mother Sister Brother

Father Mother Sister Brother, directed by Jim Jarmusch, Co-production, 2025

Fiction, Comedy-drama

“Father Mother Sister Brother” is Jim Jarmusch's cinema in its pure form: a cinema in which seemingly little happens, and yet between one sentence and another the whole story of family closeness, disappointments and silences can fit. The muted triptych (the film consists of three chapters) is not so much a film about the family, but about the distance between the people who are closest to each other.

The best film in years by Jarmusch (the first of his career Golden Lion in Venice), a director who has consistently proved for more than forty years that ordinariness becomes fascinating if you look at it carefully enough.
