The cult film “Festen”, created at the end of the last century and its subsequent stage adaptations, are now acquiring frightening relevance. It is hard to believe that a continent proud of democratic values, proudly called Europe, is once again becoming an arena of aggressive racism, nationalism and homophobia. How is it possible that history goes round and steers in the direction of a replay of its most shameful cards.
Vivisection of these mechanisms is engaged in the art “Festen”. The concealment of evil on the scale of the family, “in one's own backyard” becomes a way of functioning on the scale of the local society, then the country and beyond. Snowball. And all with slogans about “the good of the family and high values” on the lips. This applies to both perpetrators and victims. One must not give in to the conviction that nothing can be done. Young adepts of acting can use what they have best — their talent — and speak, speak, speak. From the stage. The performance “Festen” is created because according to the eleventh commandment of J.Turski: we are not indifferent.
