About the event

This year, the Nowy Pafawag Cultural Centre will host the Correlation Festival for the first time — a unique event combining film art with the idea of accessible culture. During the four festival days, we will explore Polish cinema together in a formula that allows us to look at well-known films from a completely new perspective.

Correlations arose from the belief that cultures are most fully experienced together, and that different needs of audiences should not mean separate events or separate ways of participating. The festival presents classics of Polish cinema with author's narratives prepared by invited masters and masters of the word. Their voices are interwoven between the original dialogues, creating a kind of subjective tour of the film — full of interpretation, associations, emotions and the narrator's personal gaze.

The formula grows out of audio description, but it definitely goes beyond its traditional understanding. Each film becomes the starting point for creating a new, original story, thanks to which all viewers participate in the same screening and can experience it together. The voice narrations are accompanied by SDH subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing, and the meetings after the screenings are translated into Polish sign language.

Cooperation with the Correlations Festival is for us an opportunity to combine the experiences of CKNP in the area of cultural accessibility with a project that in a thoughtful and consistent way expands access to cinema for people with different needs. It is also a natural direction for the development of our program — we want to create a place open to a diversity of audiences and at the same time to include the Nowy Pafawag Cultural Center in important, nationwide initiatives that set good standards of participation in culture.

The cinematic nature of Correlation is also of particular importance to us. Cinema is part of the history of this place — for many residents of Wrocław, the former Pafawag House of Culture was the place of the first film screenings. Today we want to develop this tradition, giving it a contemporary dimension: cinema that is accessible, open to new interpretations and, above all, lived together.

Let's start with “Revenge”!

The festival will begin on 26 November with a screening of “Revenge” by Andrzej Wajda — one of the most important Polish directors, whose 100th birthday is celebrated in 2026. We will see the film, of course, in the formula characteristic of Correlation: with a new, author's narration prepared by Artur Andrus. How will his language, sense of humor and associations meet with Fredra and Wajda's film? We are not revealing that for now.

The opening gala will take place at the Nowy Pafawag Cultural Centre and will be simultaneously broadcast to ten cinemas across Poland.

The films presented at the Correlations Festival come from the resources of the Feature Film and Documentary Film Production Company in Warsaw. The project is co-financed by the Polish Institute of Film Art and the Wrocław Film Production Company. The organizers of the festival are the Korrelations' Foundation and the Nowy Pafawag Cultural Centre.

The full program and more information about the festival will be published soon.
