As part of the Festival, the Museum of Art in Lodz has prepared two events:
■ 14 October 2026 (Wednesday), 13:00 — 14:30 The Herbsta Palace Museum, 72 Przędzalniana Street
“From the drill guide - wandering into the world of imagination” Event for people with visual impairments
We invite you to the workshops accompanying the exhibition School of Gaze. The city presented in the Gallery of Early Art Museum Herbst Palace led by the curator and educator of the Herbst Palace Museum. The exhibition, through a dialogue of photographs and words from the second half of the 19th century to modern times, invites reflection on the urban landscape. One of the figures leading through this story is the flâneur — an attentive, sensitive walker. A key figure for 19th century urban culture. For the flâneur, almost everything has the potential to unleash a game of imagination. The initiators may turn out to be an architectural detail or a person passing on the street. He approaches advertising poles and store exhibitions with extraordinary curiosity. During the classes, we will focus on, among others, a photograph of Józef Rosner with a close-up on the hands of a person touching the fabric, Jerzy Lewczyński presenting a board with announcements and photographs of Waler Twardzicki, Stefan Kiełsznia, Grzegorz Przyborek and Antonina Gugała, who at different intervals, for different reasons and in different ways dealt with the subject street sites. We, in the second part of the meeting, will create our own. Actually corresponding to existing stores or premises, or those that will constitute an illustration of the new world we have created.
