OPENING FESTIVAL/METER PER METER

Musical performance inspired by Nina Olszewska's reportage “PUDŁO. Stories from Polish Prisons.”

Screening of the examination work of students of the second year of the Faculty of Acting (vocal and acting specialty) of the AST in Cracow.

There are more than a hundred penitentiary units in Poland. Behind every door is a man. Son. Father. Mother. Daughter. Someone who made a mistake. Someone whose world has stopped for years... or forever. “Meter by meter” is a musical performance based on the stories of the inmates. It is not a story of sensation, but of a man — his longing, his shame, his anger, his hope and his loneliness. In the performance, the word is intertwined with the song, and each meter of the prison cell becomes the space of the inner world of the heroes. This is an attempt to understand, not to justify. The question of what makes someone make a decision that changes everything. The show does not demonize. It asks an uncomfortable question: could history have turned out differently under other circumstances?

The song exam of the 2nd year of the Faculty of Acting AST was awarded at the 10th National Review of Diplomas and Music Exams of Higher Art Schools “PRZYGRYWKA”.
