Gray suburbs, daily marasmus, not much is happening. The three school outsiders, Yong-gi, Ji-sook and Dum-bo, do what they can to survive in a reality where adults are almost absent and boredom is easiest to kill by scrolling social media. When a new student arrives in the classroom — Woo-joo, a handsome judoka from the national team with thousands of followers on Instagram — the characters' relationships change dramatically. Emotions come out on top, provoking jealousy and a desire for revenge.

In South Korea, there are a lot of high-value films about young people recently, but the stylish “Funky Freaky Freaks” definitely stands out at the stake, as evidenced by the Special Jury Award at the Busan Festival. Visually bold — the camera is guided from the hand, and the acting plot is accompanied by animated inserts, Han Chang-lok's film additionally has an expressive soundtrack conquered by rumbling sounds. “Funky Freaky Freaks” describes with sincerity and care a world in which you can destroy someone with one pertinent post on the Internet.
