Gu-nam's life is a failure - his wife has left for South Korea and stopped talking, and he, as a taxi driver, circles the gray city of Yanji, located on the border of China, Russia and North Korea. He is also a gambler with a debt loop around his neck. When he gets an offer from a local gangster to kill a man in Seoul in exchange for a hefty fee, he hesitates only for a moment. He embarks on a journey during which he hopes not only to complete the task, but also to find his wife. However, his mission will prove to be much more complicated than he thought. From a hunter, he will turn into a game, the trail of which dangerous people will follow. Immersed in noir poetics, Na's second film confirmed his interest in the dark side of human nature.

“Yellow Sea” is also a showcase of narrative skills (see: wordless sequence of planning a murder!) and a masterful game with the expectations of the spectators. There are extreme action scenes here with the use of knives, cleavers and even bones (!) and chases, filling the streets of the city with spectacular chaos.
