What will Detective Lee do when, during an important action, he gets into an accident and begins to lose his memory? Of course, he will return to work with the mission of finding the kidnapped son of a certain entrepreneur. Except that from now on, any lead can lead nowhere, and it is his own past that will become the most difficult riddle to solve. The closer to the finale, the less sure of who Lee actually is. SABU takes police cinema to the workshop, creating a perverse story about a man who must reassemble himself from circumstances—before he forgets what he's looking for.

“Trapped Memory” is able to move from original comedy to uncompromising action cinema in an instant. The rules of the genre become an element of a conscious game, in which under more than one gag there is a poignant image of the loneliness of a hero lost in his own history. Screened at the Venice and Toronto festivals, “Memory Trapped” received as many as 11 nominations for the Golden Horse Awards, recalling the reasons why SABU has been recognized as one of the most important creators of Asian genre cinema for decades.
