JAN KOWALEWSKI CIPHER FESTIVAL

Do you like solving puzzles? Or are you interested in history? Or do you want to know how the decryption machine works? You will have the opportunity to do so again. On Saturday, October 24, from 10 am to 6 pm, we invite you to the third edition of Jan Kowalewski's Cipher Festival!

He will walk around the Mediateka alone... Jan Kowalewski in the uniform of the Polish Army from the Polish-Bolshevik war, telling his story as part of the monodrama “Delegate”. It will be performed by actor Hubert Kułacz. It will be watched by the grandson of the brilliant cryptologist, Hugo Didier Ferreira - guest of honor of the festival, who will remember his grandfather in the lecture part.

In the patio there will be stands with workshops and games, including, among others, the reconstructed Cipher Office from 1920, the exposition of the Poznań Cipher Center “Enigma”, the Museum of Independence Traditions in Lodz or the Łódź Historical Reconstruction Group. You will also be able to create your own password or cipher using LEGO bricks. Riddles with their use were prepared by specialists from the company Built from Bricks. You will be able to play historical computer and board games, prepared by the Institute of National Remembrance — Łódź Branch.

Those interested will be able to participate in the field game, which will take place throughout the library building. There will be various puzzles to solve, including, among others, using... a comb, a book or a computer. The winners of the game will receive attractive prizes, and all participants will receive a symbolic souvenir.
