We invite you to a meeting around Piotr Paziński's interactive audio-novel about Warsaw's remains of Jewish Warsaw. The author leads readers and listeners through modern Warsaw, revealing traces of the former Jewish city hidden in the topography of Muranovo. Inspired by photographs, memories, documents and literature, through which non-existent streets and houses regain their voice. During the meeting, one of the essays will be read by Adam Bauman. Afterwards, we invite you to a conversation with Piotr Paziński, led by Agnieszka Rasmus-Zgorzelska, co-creator of the upcoming audiobooks.
The meeting takes place as part of the Wolskie Ostance Festival. OSTAŃCE 2026 City, memory, people
What is left of a city that is constantly changing? What continues despite demolitions, new investments and obliteration of memory traces? And who are the modern “regulars”? Festival “Wolskie Ostańce” is a multidimensional event dedicated to the relationship between the city, memory and people. For three days, Wola will become a space for meetings, stories, artistic activities and reflections on what is still going on in Warsaw, despite its disappearance. We understand Ostance broadly — as material traces of history written in the space of the city, social and cultural relics, emotional landscapes of memory, gesture of opposition to forgetting, as well as inspiration and form of artistic activities.
The urban axis is centered around the space of Warsaw and its traces — places, buildings, courtyards and fragments of the city that have survived the changes of history and urban planning. The festival asks what remains written in the fabric of the city and how we interpret its layers of memory today.
The social axis focuses on people — residents, community leaders, creators and witnesses of change. “Ostanci” are those who remember, document, tell and give meaning to the places and experiences of the local community.
The artistic axis treats the stanzas as a form — an inspiration for performance, film, music and visual activities. The festival uses art as a tool to evoke memory, build relationships and create new narratives about the city.
