FFM26 - The Life of a Woman

Gabrielle (the always excellent, double César winner Léa Drucker) at 55 has dedicated her life to the work. As a surgeon and head of department in a hospital, she is constantly on the move, pushed to the limit by the weight of responsibility. Her working life leaves neither time nor space for her husband (Charles Berling) and her caring mother (Marie-Christine Barrault), who do not get the attention they think they deserve. Yet this is the life she wanted and the life she has chosen for herself. It is only when a writer (Mélanie Thierry) visits her during her research for a novel she is writing that Gabrielle lets herself be thrown off balance... The film had its world premiere in competition at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
