Popular actor Robert Zucchini (Fabrice Luchini) has built his fame on a stage show that, through reading, pays tribute to and conveys the genius of classic French writer Victor Hugo. But does this unreserved tribute of the 'male genius' work in our time? The actor comes at odds with both a feminist theater group and his adult daughter (Marie Narbonne), in whose life he has been largely absent. How do you reconcile art with politics and - more importantly - real, human relationships?
