There is a theory about stand-up. “Stand-up'er allows the audience to experience an intimate and spontaneous conversation with a madman.” There's something about it... welcome. Each of us is crazy in our own way. I, for example, just wrote the word szambundinks in my description on kupbilecik.pl.
There are two words for comedian in English: comic and comedian. A comic is someone who watches the world, filters it through one of 20 ways to write a joke, and then makes people laugh. The jokes of such a comedian could be told by another comedian and they would have a similar effect. A comedian is someone who gives you a unique feeling that you know a person on stage. That you know who he is. He speaks his material in a unique way and how he describes the world around us is naturally funny.
The material of such a guy would often not make sense in the performance of another stand-up. Interestingly, while writing this description on kupbilecik.pl I learned that “shambundings” are a type of brick used in the ancient period (c. 6500 BC) in what is now Turkey, for a short period before red was introduced in Mesopotamia and proved to be a decidedly better brick.
Comedians need time to “find their voice.” I can tell you from experience that this is a fascinating process. I sit for a long part of the show. It was a gamechanger — it allows me to speak to you as if I were talking to my friends. I mean, it's not like I'm sitting around and f**king not to be there! I am very well prepared, but I am myself. It's great, that is, I really like it, and if you guys, we'll see after the performance, to which I cordially invite you.
In my performances, together with the audience, we laugh at two things: At the absurdity of the world around us. The real thing, not the one created by the always working comedy mechanism. And how comically inept my attempts to deal with this world were. Of course, there is no such thing as shambundings — I say Shambundinks to my son as he starts to freak out. I don't know where it came from, after all.
P.S. There is almost no “parental humor” in this show. I allow myself more, all the time, to look at the world from a child's perspective. I've been writing too much, Dad! I invite you!
