Movie Mondays

Film Mondays is an author's series designed not only for moviegoers, but also for laypeople among viewers. The film that will appear on the screen remains a secret until you sit in our intimate cinema room.

In November at Artus Cinema we will look at films at the border of genres — fairy tales and folk horror. We will show cinema inspired by legends, ancient spells, folk beliefs and fears rooted in the collective imagination.

What are we going to watch this time?

The beginning of the seventeenth century. The peaceful life of a large, devout family living on the edge of the forest is interrupted by a series of mysterious events: the disappearance of an infant, a crop failure or disturbing animal behavior. The fear that fell on the family turns into a series of suspicions and mutual accusations. The harsh landscape and wild, untamed nature heighten the mood of horror.

As usual, the screening will be preceded by a short lecture presenting the history of the film's creation and cinematic curiosities related to it.
