Movie Mondays

Film Mondays is an author's series designed not only for moviegoers, but also for laypeople among viewers. The film that will appear on the screen remains a secret until you sit in our intimate cinema room.

In November at Artus Cinema we will look at films at the border of genres — fairy tales and folk horror. We will show cinema inspired by legends, ancient spells, folk beliefs and fears rooted in the collective imagination.

What are we going to watch this time?

A pair of twins grow up on an isolated farm under the care of a strict father, a religious fanatic. He hides a dark secret from them. When siblings discover a book containing ancient spells, they begin to search for the truth about their mother's death and her connections to the supernatural world. The film we will present is a story about discovering one's own roots and the dangerous temptation to cross the boundaries of what is forbidden.

As usual, the screening will be preceded by a short lecture presenting the history of the film's creation and cinematic curiosities related to it.
