Dance Umbrella presents:
Join dance artist SERAFINE1369 for an intuitive movement workshop exploring how dancing can connect us to ourselves, each other and the unseen.
Through movement, listening, witnessing, partner work, sounding and conversation, you’ll be invited to discover your own unique way of dancing. With curiosity at its heart, the session creates space for different histories, imaginations and possible futures to emerge. There’s no right way to dance and no expectation to move in the same way as anyone else. Come as you are and explore what your body has to offer in the moment.
“My connection with dancing was cultivated through dances with my aunty in the living room, letting loose at the local under-age rock club, dancing alone to music in the dance studio before and after school. Now, I spend a lot of time dancing with eyes closed with friends, tripping on the rich imaginative / remembered journeys this can call to the fore and stepping with the beat alone in the studio.” SERAFINE1369
Suitable for 18+
All levels welcome. No previous dance experience required.
Wear something comfortable to move in.
Part of Touch The Floor, a Dance Umbrella event curated by Anthea Lewis exploring the history and evolution of Black British social dance and music cultures. Through talks, movement, music, making and participation, it celebrates the informal spaces where people gathered, connected and created community.
