FIREBREATHER

DYING HYDRA/Metal

Apocalypse hits The Flea as we get a visit from the Gothenburg-based doom band Firebreather, who are ready to devour the Flea with heavy riffs and maximum volume alongside Dying Hydra on October 15th.

FIREBREATHER

Formed in Gothenburg in 2016, Firebreather has created crushing, sludge-soaked doom metal from the very beginning. At no point have the band deviated from this starting point across all of their three-explosive full-length releases — Firebreather's music is neither a spectacle nor an exercise in exaggeration, but instead uses their heavy sound as the only language broad enough to accommodate the emotional span and sonic heaviness of their sound.

The music writes almost by itself, with no distance between the words and the sound; they emanate from directing our presence on the same cursed earth, and it is precisely this honesty and ferocity that is the signature of the band's artistic work.

Firebreather are never “fake” or desperate for recognition — and if you experience them live, you get the same authenticity to feel up close and personal. The band's massive sound and immersive rawness doesn't just fill a room; it transforms it. The volume presses against the body before the first line of text hits, and the riffs burst through the floor like earthquakes. The drums don't propel the songs forward; they anchor them, while the boundary between sound and physical force begins to disappear.

Head down.

Volume up.
