About the event

When in 2025 the judges of the Wojtek Siwka Jazz Individuality Competition awarded honors, one could get the impression that these were not the last laurels that fell on Fleeting Monument. After a little over a year, they return to Firlej to play a concert as an already established band on the Polish jazz scene.

It was no ordinary debut. Fleeting Monument during the 61st edition of the Jazz on the Oder Festival showed that youth can go hand in hand with incredible musical maturity. The additional prize in the form of a concert in the Culture Zone, which they will realize at the beginning of November, is a return to the stage that believed in their vision of music.

Shortly after the success of Jazz on the Odra, Fleeting Monument received the main prize of the Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski Competition of Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa. In addition to further financial support, the band secured the recording of the material and the release of the album.

During the concert in Firlej, the musicians will present material from the new album, as well as the premiere, hitherto unpublished compositions. It will be an opportunity to hear the announcements of further artistic research of the band.

The name of the group Fleeting Monument is not the work of chance. Inspired by the philosophy of the legendary Wayne Shorter, musicians seek in jazz a balance between the permanent and the improvised and the momentary. In their sound you can hear echoes of deep blues, but they are given in a modern, almost futuristic setting.

Martyna Bieszczad's saxophone and Filip Krauz's trumpet conduct a dialogue that at times resembles the clash of the elements, only to melt into perfect harmony. Next to them, the rhythm is set by a well-oiled machine in the composition: Mateusz Ozga (piano), Jakub Kozłowski (double bass) and Gabriel Antoniak (drums).

The concert in Firle is a proposal for those who expect more from music than just a background for the evening. Fleeting Monument invites you to a world where every note has great power. If you want to check which direction the Polish jazz scene is heading, you can't miss it.
