On Friday, the Forum Hotel will reopen its doors to welcome a wide spectrum of sounds from around the world. In the Ballroom we will start close to home — with the Tercet Imperial set, a trio that presents a new approach to oberk, a well-known Polish folk dance, using synthesizers, drum machines and knowledge of folk tales from Asia and Africa. Then the age-old collaborators, Iglooghost and daisy* (formerly known as BaBiI), seal their friendship in a new project Cyst, which weaves IDM with the sound of indie hip-hop. In the PPP project, DJ Plead from Melbourne, DJ Python from Brooklyn and Piezo from Milan found a common language. After the intoxicating debut “Bborn Again” they will play a provocative live set. London's Shannen SP, who remains at the forefront of club music, will be behind the decks for the first time with TAYHANA, a virtuoso Argentine DJ and award-winning producer — sparks will fly. In the b2b formula, Juliana Huxtable, who lives in Nowy J, will also meet
About the event
In the Corner Room, the event will be started by the Worldpeace DMT project — currently created by Londoner Leo Fincham and Rowan Miles from the duo The Femcels — whose sound is constantly changing — maybe we will hear psychedelia, maybe folk music, maybe a pinch of punk, or maybe something completely different. Nashville-based artist username serves up a footwork-inspired whirlwind of trap, IDM, and experimental beats. From Berlin (via Peru) the experimental bass duo DNGDNGDNG will arrive. He will play a live set in which he will combine South American sounds with heavily rave-like elements. Siete Catorce from Mexico will prove why they are the favorite producer of our favorite manufacturers by presenting a selection of their latest and forward-looking drum designs. Serokolo 7, releasing at Nyege Nyege Tapes, takes us to Limpopo in the north of South Africa, resurrecting and modernizing mapanta — the trans-sounding sound that was popular in the region in the 1980s. South London DJ and producer re:ni, who has released Ilian Tapes, Timedance and her own imprint re:lax, will guide us through jungle, electro and psychedelic techno without ever turning down the bass.
At 89 in the basement of the Forum Hotel, a break from the chaos will be provided by the set of Dagmar Zunigi, a Nicaraguan American artist who delighted critics with her great debut album “in filth your mystery is a kingdom/far smile peasant in yellow music” — a lo-fi collection of folk songs that captivated both Smerz and Cindy Lee. The deeply independent British scene will be represented by Everything is Psychedelic, aka rap singer Tony Bontana and London-based producer The Psychedelic Ensemble. Their sound is a neon universe of wild samples, drones, impulsive raps, screams and jagged or distorted beats. Drummer, musicologist and unsound engineer Adam Gołębiewski will play together with saxophone master Marek Poalski and characteristic guitarist Artur Rumiński. The night will be opened by Warsaw's ambient explorer Lemta Toro — expect theatrical sound collages and samples not from this era.
