About the event

Hear three scientists talk about coffee — the biology of the coffee plant, its cultivation and processing into the coffee we drink, about sustainable coffee, about the impact climate change will have on coffee in the future, and about the health aspects of drinking coffee.

Aske Skovmand Bosselmann is Associate Professor at the Department of Food and Resource Economics at the University of Copenhagen. For a decade and a half, he has researched various issues in the global coffee sector, including the adaptation of producers to climate change, the development of arable forestry and private initiatives for sustainable development.

Anders S. Barfod is Associate Professor Emeritus at the Department of Biology at Aarhus University where he researches tropical plant resources with a focus on the mango family and palm trees. He has conducted research projects in both South America, Southeast Asia, Australia and Africa.

Dr.med. Kjeld Hermansen is Associate Professor Emeritus at Aarhus University and Adjunct Professor at the University of Copenhagen where he researches clinical nutrition, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.

There will, of course, be coffee and cake.

Science lectures livestreamed on the big screenExperience a series of lectures where you can get closer to the latest discoveries and realizations in the natural sciences. It is scientists who lecture, the level is high and you will be challenged, but you can benefit from all lectures regardless of your professional prerequisites. Admission to the lectures is free.

The lectures are livestreamed from the Søauditorierne in Universitetsparken, Aarhus University to cinemas, libraries, folk universities, cultural houses, associations, assembly houses, colleges, schools, eateries, etc. in many cities in Denmark and abroad.

A lecture typically lasts two hours including a mid-term break of 20 minutes and a session at the end of which the lecturer answers selected questions submitted by the audience during the lecture via SMS. Some lecturers even answer in writing the questions that they did not have time to answer during the lecture.
