We talk about “stupid bastards”, but it doesn't last. Pigs are smart. Minced farts, pork roasts and chops — this is how most of us meet the pig: dismembered, packaged and unrecognisable in the supermarket refrigerated counter. But there are far more pigs in Denmark than humans, even though few of us ever associate with the live animals.
Hear anthropologist and author Inger Anneberg take you on a journey of discovery in the pig country of Denmark. With the book The Whole Pig, she delves into our habitual performances and shows the pig as the unique living creature it is — long before it lands on the dinner table.
