Based on his latest work, The Blocks, Deniz Kiy talks about how personal and social narratives turn into literature.
The blocks take place in an unnamed residential area somewhere in Denmark, following seven residents of the apartment buildings, which are both a home and a battle ground. The residents each face life hardships, both within the family, but also with the system that threatens to tear down their foundations.
The Blocks is a collective novel about the worlds that exist between us. It's magical social realism about power and resistance, homeless grief and boundless love.
