Art Fort 1993—1995. The beginning of the festival | Screening of archival films | Fort Sztuki 3026.

As part of the Fort Sztuki 3026 festival, we invite you to a series of studio screenings of archival film materials documenting the first three editions of Fort Sztuki from 1993-1995. All shows will be accompanied by a lecture with the participation of participants and authors of fort events, who will share their memories and present the context of the presented materials.

This screening will be an opportunity to look at the beginning of the festival, its artistic character and the atmosphere of the events organized in the Fort of St. Benedict in Krakow.

About movies

All three editions of the festival were held in Fort St. Benedict.

Fort of Art 1993 was the first event from which the history of the Art Fort Association begins. The surviving footage has the character of an impression rather than a documentary. The festival was accompanied by a symposium “Freedom in Art” organized by Łukasz Guzek.

Films documenting Fort Sztuki 1994 and 1995, recorded by event organizers and assembled from archival materials of the Art Fort Association, are in the nature of a living document. The 1994 edition was accompanied by a symposium “Extremum in Art”, organized and moderated by Łukasz Guzek. Although the symposia were not included in the film materials, they were an integral part of the festivals.

In turn, Fort Sztuki 1995 went down in history also because of the extreme temperatures that the participants of the event had to face.
