The Department of Early Music invites you to a unique concert that will take listeners into the musical world of the first half of the 19th century, at the time of the Partitions, when Poland officially did not exist on the map of Europe. Musical instruments underwent intensive transformations at that time — the development of production technology made it possible to use innovative solutions, and the new style in music raised expectations for ease of sound extraction, intensification of dynamic and articulatory differences, but also equalization of sound. At the time, the oboe, with its still uncomplicated mechanics, appeared to be slightly less attractive than the clarinet or flute, but was it really less worthy to compose for it?
About the event
The concert program included Polish and foreign works, which were played in salons and concert halls at the time, as well as transcriptions of Polish compositions for oboe and piano. The main character of the concert will be the original piano of Johann Heilmann from Offenburg (c. 1810), on which Marek Toporowski will play. He will be accompanied by Katarzyna Pilipiuk playing on a copy of the octagonal oboe (c. 1805).
Admission is free.
Event coordinator: dr Katarzyna Pilipiuk
Concert as part of the scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage Katarzyna Pilipiuk.
