We need to become more aware of what high giftedness is, how parents can understand highly gifted children and what to pay special attention to.
Highly gifted children are characterized by thinking in several solutions at once. They connect knowledge across and are creative in their problem solving. They can immerse themselves significantly when something catches their interest and have a strong inner motivation and drive. But highly gifted children can struggle with asynchronous development and misunderstandings from the environment. This can lead to worries, distrust and a feeling of being different and out of step with the surroundings.
That's why highly gifted children need adults who understand them and can help create security and regulation. Highly gifted children differ from the average to an equally significant degree as children with cognitive impairments and often need special adaptation and understanding.
There is an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the interview.
