About the event

A bittersweet portrait of a young woman suspended between aspiration and reality.

Frances Halladay, an aspiring dancer from New York, tries with charm and persistence to find her own place in life, although adulthood is increasingly blurred with her ideas.

Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig — co-writer and lead actor — create a film about the silent rupture between the dream and the everyday, between the energy of youth and the first experience of disappointment.

Outlined in subtle black and white, Frances Ha combines the lightness of a contemporary urban tale with the elegance of French New Wave and the New York melancholy of classic cinema.

The famous scene of running through the streets of the city in David Bowie's “Modern Love”, read as a nod to the Evil Blood of Leos Carax, becomes one of the most complete images of the heroine - full of anxiety, hope and the need for change.

It is a film not about a spectacular crisis, but about growing up to your own limitations, your truth and gradually becoming yourself.
