When people wake up in the morning and think about which crisis is likely to be the most important today, this is not without consequences. Social psychologists now attest that we are “exhaustion of change.”
In Frank-Markus Barwasser's new stage program, his alter ego Erwin Pelzig therefore explores the question of what the much-described “change fatigue” is doing to us: who we become in a time of fundamental change. People have never liked these before; they always meant danger, risk and uncertainty. That was when realism, reason and composure rarely flourished, then the hour always struck for prophets of doom and apocalyptics, who manage the fears and longings of frightened people with great success.
But simply describing and describing the problems is not an option for someone like Furzig. That is why — as always in the company of his two friends Hartmut and Dr. Göbel — he is looking for another way to deal with the crazy world. This takes him not least into the well-explored realm of brain research, into the unexplored expanses of the universe and into the thought world of knowledgeable Stoic philosophers.
Erwin Pelzig: “Sometimes you may think that the only choice you have is to go crazy or become religious. I've tried it. I can't recommend either.”
