Freeride Filmfestival 2026: BETWEEN CONTROL AND SURRENDER TO THE ELEMENTS Freeride Filmfestival 2026 is six films about life in the mountains and extreme experiences — from avalanches and sailing expeditions to intimate stories of friendship and roots. They all share the same moment: letting go of control to follow the rhythm of nature. Volker Hölzl, director of Freeride Filmfestival: “In 2026, our six films tell of the same experience in very different ways: the moment when we stop trying to control the mountains, the weather or life itself, and instead learn to follow their rhythm. Whether in the middle of an avalanche, aboard a sailboat crossing the Norwegian fjords, or at the border of myth and truth in the story of a snowboarding career, indulging in the elements is never a lonely experience. The support is always given by friendship and community. This is what makes Freeride Filmfestival special to me, year after year.” Videos in brief Yin - Swiss professional snowboarder

The support is always given by friendship and community. This is what makes Freeride Filmfestival special to me, year after year.” Videos in brief Yin — Swiss professional snowboarder Daria Fuchs is looking for a connection to the land of snow and ice. Her journey takes her from snow-capped peaks to sea level, where in Japan she indulges in surfing and meeting the elements. Directed by Morgan Maassen. Inside Circles — Director Dominic Knoppe travels Iceland and Norway with friends Max Pflanzl and Tim Boehringer — snowboarding, splitboarding and sailing, always following the wind. A film about freedom that occurs when we stop trying to control nature and begin to move in its rhythm. Uncle Timmy - In a vision of the future, professional snowboarder Timm Schröder - “Uncle Timmy” - tells the children of his best friend, Din Flatz, about a life marked by the title of world champion, painful falls and real losses. The line between truth and exaggeration is blurring. Kodo - A group of Japanese skiers and filmmakers living in Canada combine traditional taiko drumming and wabi-sabi philosophy with the majesty of Canadian wildlife.

75 Seconds - On a foggy March evening in Norway, freestyle skier Jacob Wester unleashes an avalanche. For 75 seconds, he fights for his life amid the thunder and rolling masses of snow, while his wife Sofia waits lower in silence. A raw film about chaos, fear and hope. Ferryland - A group of friends return to Trandal, a village of only 17 inhabitants on the Norwegian fjord. In a place that offers some of the best freeride terrain in the country, they start a race against time to save their season.
