Frente Cumbiero (CO) + DJ Mescal

Frente Cumbiero transforms ALICE into an endless tropical dance party as they take the stage for October with their highly relevant take on the cumbia. They played an unforgettable concert with us in 2018 and now they are ready to invite the audience on another sonic journey to Colombia's Caribbean shores when they return with their new, powerful album “Inconcreto & Asociados” (2025). DJ Mescal opens the evening.

The Frente Cumbiero are the undisputed torchbearers within the neo-cumbia. For nearly two decades, the group has taken the indigenous genre from Colombia's Caribbean shores into the present, to that extent expanding the boundaries of the cumbia and keeping it relevant. The band name, which actually means 'cumbia brother', refers to frontman Mario Galeano Toro, who is also behind groups such as Ondatrópica and Los Pirañas, which we have also enjoyed on ALICE.

When Frente Cumbiero takes to the stage, you can expect solid tropical party music, driven by dubbed electronic sequences, energetic percussion courses, airy fan themes and guacharaca loops, all characteristic of cumbia. It is a music that takes the audience on what feels like an endless journey into the many corners of the cumbia. A music that makes the heart jump, the heart rate gallop and the body move. Since their initial release in 2009, Frente Cumbiero have toured the world thin, playing on stages such as Fuji Rock, MoMA, Roskilde Festival, Estéreo Picnic and Sónar, and collaborating with dub-king Mad Professor and Minyo Crusaders. When Frente Cumbiero guests ALICE in October, you can expect a groovy, psychet, warm and extremely danceable concert. So, despite the autumn debt and come along when the Colombian quartet lights up under the dance floor with new material.
