The event will take place in the Rotational House of Culture in Jazdow (ul. Jazdow 3/18), in the immediate vicinity of nature, which provides a natural context for the topics discussed.

Fungapolis is an exhibition and performance project of the FUNGA Collective (Karo Linda and Agata Polak), dedicated to fungi as non-human beings, having an agent, exerting a key influence on the processes occurring in the environment. The project combines art, biology and participatory activities, inviting you to look at processes beyond direct perception that shape the relationships between organisms and their environment.

The focus of the project is the exhibition, which will be on view during the opening 16.10 (18:00-20:00) and the finish 18.10 (18:00-20:00) — free admission. The exhibition can also be viewed at other times from 16 to 18.10. We invite you to contact us via Instagram @collectivefunga to arrange a convenient time.

At Fungapolis, Agata Polak's work MycoSynths will be presented in the form of a living sound-light object, reacting to biological processes. A selection of Karo Linda's works, created in dialogue with mushrooms and mycelium, will also be shown. Among them will be living objects, photographs and video documenting their development and transformations. The works focus on the processivity of matter, the presence of fungi in the environment and their causative agents.

On Saturday, 17.10 from 14:00 to 16:00 there will be a sporographic workshop led by Kara Linda, during which each person will create their own sporography (graphics from spores) using the fruiting bodies of local mushrooms. Registration for the workshop is through the Google form - the number of places is limited to 10 people (link to the form: https://forms.gle/EnsxmaqWFchYgUXC6).
On the same day, between 18:00 and 20:00, Agata Polak will conduct a performative lecture on her artistic practice, showing how the biological processes of mycelium can be translated into sound and light structures — free admission.

At the end, October 18, from 20:00 to 21:00, there will be a ritual of introducing mycelium into the garden of the Rotary House of Culture — burying the mycelium in the ground as a gesture of interspecies cooperation.

Participants can expect a leisurely pace, low-entry activities that do not require specialist knowledge, and direct and safe contact with mushrooms. It is a space for joint observation, conversation and learning — an event for people curious about the world of mushrooms, regardless of age and experience.

About FUNGA Collective:

The FUNGA collective is made up of Karo Linda and Agata Polak — interdisciplinary artists combining art, biology and sound. Karo Linda is a visual artist, DJ and music producer, a graduate of the Faculty of Media Art of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw; she carries out projects in collaboration with fungi, studying the causative agents of non-human beings. Agata Polak is an intermediate artist, DJ and sound designer, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and the University of Silesia (Faculty of Natural Sciences); she has presented works, among others, at CSW Zamek Ujazdowski and Zachęta. Fungapolis was born out of their shared passion for the world of fungi and a desire to share knowledge at the intersection of art and biology.
