The Gdańsk Accordion Quartet was created in 2021 on the initiative of students and graduates of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk — Maciej Kacprzak, Paweł Ratajek, Paweł Wiśniewski and Wojciech Ulanowski. All members of the band are distinguished accordionists, winners of national and international music competitions, including the most important accordion competitions in Poland, Austria, Croatia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Germany.

The main goal of the formation of the band was the love of chamber music and the desire to present to the audience the possibilities of four accordions on one stage. The repertoire of the Gdańsk Accordion Quartet is a synthesis of the musical interests of the band members — from baroque to contemporary music, during concerts the musicians do not shy away from improvisation, which distinguishes them from other ensembles with such a composition and repertoire. Since the beginning of its activity, the Gdańsk Accordion Quartet has also focused on popularizing the accordion as a full-fledged concert instrument, breaking stereotypes.

For five years of activity, the ensemble had the opportunity to cooperate with renowned Polish institutions, including the F. Chopin Polish Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk, the Cappella Gedanensis, the F. Nowowiejski Warmian-Masurian Philharmonic in Olsztyn, the W. Lutosławski Symphony Orchestra in Płock, the Teatr Culture Centre in Grudziz Artus Court in Gdańsk, the Museum of Romanticism in Opinogóra, the Municipal Cultural Centre in Legionowo, the Consulate of Culture in Gdynia, the Oliwa City Hall of Culture in Gdańsk, the Wejherowo Cultural Centre — the Kashubian Philharmonic.
