New Polish musical about Mazovia, its legends and everything that cannot be closed in the official rubric

In Mazovia, every legend has its own story.

And my own briefcase.

Their activity is regularly checked, each supernatural event is given a proper form, and the Office for Standardization and Registration of Fairy Tales and Legends keeps an eye on order. Twardowski has his briefcase. Black Beast — Active Case Status. Wodnica from Płock has been struggling with the wrong classification for years. Everything works according to the procedure.

At least until Rose of Wyszków disappears.

In the place where it should be, stands a new, extremely elegant coffin. It has a soft top, a smoothing profile and looks decidedly too modern for a centuries-old legend. Only one thing is missing: the rose.

If it is not found by dawn, one of the legends of Mazovia may disappear irrevocably. So two officials set off on the field: Witold the Right — a man of procedures, stamps and confirmed facts — and Konrad, a new employee who still believes that every legend has its own voice and that sometimes it's just worth hearing.

However, their journey through Mazovia quickly eludes all instructions. On the road appear the heroes of the old passes, and each of the legends turns out to live its own life. There is a mirror of Twardowski, a deceptive character from the Vistula in Płock, a cursed Beast, a dangerously intelligent Catherine, a hot-tempered prince and... a devil who definitely does not like unannounced visits. With each subsequent story, it becomes more and more difficult to distinguish what is written from what really lives in human memory.

But where is Rose?

Has anyone seen her?

Does anyone else remember her?

Can the legend disappear?

And if so... which one will be next?

“Where is Rose?” is a new musical by Jerzy Wołosiuk, author of libretto and music, combining comedy, adventure, crime, fairy tale and contemporary musical theater. Dynamic songs, expressive characters, brilliant humor and the world of Mazovian legends create a story full of mysteries, twists and emotions. It's a show about the power of storytelling, memory and imagination — the fact that legends only live when we want to tell them to ourselves.

The show does not reconstruct old applications or turn them into museum exhibits. It restores movement, conflict, humor and their own character. It shows Mazovia as a land full of contradictions: historical and contemporary, mysterious and absurdly concrete, rooted in tradition, but still ready to tell itself anew

Because not everything can be entered.

Not everything is worth smoothing.

And not every legend that disappears is waiting to be saved.

Premiere on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the incorporation of Mazovia into the Kingdom of Poland

The musical is created in the year of the jubilee of the 500th anniversary of the incorporation of Mazovia into the Kingdom of Poland — an event that in 1526 closed the era of the independent Duchy of Mazovia and opened a new chapter in the history of the region.

However, the Jubilee becomes not only an opportunity to look into the past, but also the starting point for stories about memory, identity and the extraordinary world of Masovian legends that have been building the imagination of subsequent generations for centuries.

The performance is realized thanks to the financing of the Mazowieckie Voivodship Self-Government.

Beskrivelse:

Behind every hill, among the forest paths and along the banks of rivers, there are stories that have endured for centuries. Some you know, others are just waiting to be discovered. In this book you will find eighteen legends full of mysteries and extraordinary heroes: princes, aquatic creatures, flying cats, dragons and formidable knights. You will read about the Roma rolling stock and the dramatic events that inspired Shakespeare himself. These are stories that live in Mazovian cities and towns, passed from mouth to mouth for hundreds of years. Now they have been told anew.
At the end of each legend, curiosities await you — information about local traditions, museums and places worth visiting.
In the year in which we celebrate the 500th anniversary of the incorporation of Mazovia into the Crown, it is worth recalling that before this happened, the Duchy of Mazovia for 300 years was almost independent and ruled by rulers who were intelligent, ambitious and courageous.
